Fish tank cycling using the new biodegradable ball product. Does it work?

I am doing a fishless cycle on my 48 litre (12 gallon) tank and since i'm having difficulty getting media/gravel from a well established tank it could take, maybe months. I have just heard of this product called 'Evolution aquarium pure' which is a pack of biodegradable balls that are allegedly packed with up to 42 million live beneficial bacteria that u dose with into ur tank, has anyone heard of and tried this product? Does it work? It sounds too good to be true!
